25th Anniversary Shakedown Street w/ Melvin Seals & Vince Herman

Buy Tickets

One of the longest running Grateful Dead tribute bands in the world, Shakedown Street, makes its home in and around the Rocky Mountain region of North America. Spawned from jam sessions at the Ancient Mariner bar in Manitou Springs, Colorado in 1987, Shakedown Street quickly grew in popularity, and garnered a legion of loyal fans who refer to themselves as "Shakeheads". In a few short years, throngs of "Shakeheads" could be found on the highways and byways of the Rocky Mountains, making their way to another Shakedown Street show.

In the live music venues of the Rocky Mountains, there are only a few bands that are able to consistantly draw large audiences. Shakedown Street accomplishes this year after year by embodying the Grateful Dead ethos of improvisation and discovery, while maintaining an intimacy and open repoire with its audience. A whole new generation of "Shakeheads" has discovered the positive and collaborative energy found at a Shakedown Street concert. Longtime fans are thrilled to find the band sounding hotter than ever, and having the time of their lives!

The band's personnel is comprised of some of the most creative musicians from some of the finest Colorado bands: Josh Rosen (Lead Guitar and Vocals) from Fort Collins; Smokey Joe Weisiger (Keyboards/Organ and Vocals) from Arvada; Edwin Hurwitz (Bass) from Boulder; Scott Swartz (Rhythm Guitar and Vocals) from Moffat; and Christian Teele (Drums and Percussion) from Boulder.

Throughout the years, Shakedown Street has had the privilege of sharing the stage with many iconic musicians. Some of these include former Grateful Dead members Vince Welnick and Tom Constanten, as well as Melvin Seals of the Jerry Garcia Band, and Grateful Dead technician and keyboard wizard Bob Bralove. Others include Los Lobos' David Hidalgo, The JGB Band, Hot Tuna, The David Nelson Band, NRPS, Big Head Todd and the Monsters, Merl Saunders, Mitch Ryder, Spirit, Jerry Jeff Walker, The Fabulous Thunderbirds, and Big Brother and the Holding Company.

With a working repertoire of over two hundred songs, Shakedown Street is able to perform multi night runs without repetition, drawing equally from early and modern Grateful Dead songs, and weave together unique and unforgettable performances. Believing that it is good to give back to the planet, Shakedown Street performs charity and benefit engagements on an ongoing basis to help their local and global communities.

With 2012 marking the beginning of Shakedown Street’s year-long 25th Anniversary Party, big plans are in the making. The band will be performing special celebratory shows throughout the year, that will feature guest appearances of many well known Colorado and national artists. Don’t be surprised to find Shakedown Street in your neighborhood soon!!!

Roster McCabe

Roster McCabe... mixing reggae, funk and guitar-rock... led by Steele's searing vocals and Daum's twisting guitar solos... [is one of] five up-and-coming jam bands that could draw audiences to the festivals of tomorrow. - BILLBOARD MAGAZINE

Roster McCabe likes to stay one step ahead. Musically, people know they love it, but they can't fully describe it. The bands coined phrase “Funky Reggae Dance Rock” gives a good hint of what you can expect from the 5 piece rock band, but speaks nothing to the depth and sincerity of the music. Professionally, the band is leading the way in the independent music world. Giving away all of their music for free, Roster McCabe has built a large, loyal following eager to share their music and bring friends to the live shows.

By the end of 2011, Roster McCabe had played 670 shows over the course of five years and has no plans of slowing down. Just this past year the band supported Matisyahu and Stephen Marley and rocked clubs and festivals in 23 states. Legendary keyboard/synth player Bernie Worrell of Parliment-Funkadelic, and Kyle Hollingsworth of the jam superstar band The String Cheese Incident have both sat in on stage with Roster McCabe.

A Roster McCabe live experience is just that: an experience. Unlike the one-hit-wonder pop bands that play the hit night after night to an audience in attendance for the one song, Roster McCabe brings a high energy, fresh show to loyal fans all across the country keeping each night unique with new arrangements to RMC staples while mixing in their take on well-known classics. No show is the same.

Built on the foundation of drummer Jeff Peterson and bassist Scott Muellenberg, the quintet brings an unstoppable dance party night after night. 26-year-old Peterson and 24-year-old Muellenberg sound like they've been grooving together for 30 years. The flair of Peterson's drumming never interferes with the deep groove of each song - something sought after but rarely attained by flashy drummers. Lead guitarist Michael David Daum brings even the most studied guitar heads to their knees with his unparalleled tone, technique and jaw-dropping solos. Drew Preiner keeps the dance party strong with catchy synth lines and heavy guitar counter-melodies to Daum's lead. When both guitars play in harmony, you swear you've been transported to an alternate universe where The Allman Brothers and Metallica snowboard together.

What adds the finishing touches to this irrepressible instrumentalist core is the soulful, heart wrenching vocals of Jamaican Alex Steele (well, half Jamaican/half Minnesotan). You come for the dance party and you leave with a new favorite singer and front man. As kind as he is powerful, Steele can belt out Led Zeppelin's "Kashmir" to sound as if Robert Plant chose Vitamin Water instead of Whiskey. Always in control enough to soar above the band and over the crowd, but soulful enough to let everything go in bleeding, explosive passion.

Doubling on synth and keys, Steele and the guys (incorporating samples, arpeggiators and other various electronic elements) bring portions of the set to DJ rave-like electro heights. Don’t be surprised if you see this band sharing bills with top DJs and packing party tents at late night festival slots.

In their hometown of Minneapolis, Roster McCabe packs some of the most legendary venues like the Cabooze where 700 people came out to their CD release the night of one of Minnesota's largest blizzard's of the 2010/2011 winter. The most recent studio release, Through Space and Time, was recorded at the famed Pachyderm Studios and co-produced and mixed by Grammy nominated Paul Marino. The album fuses the best of the past 50 years of music into a cohesive, singable multi-genre album. Masterfully dipping into reggae, disco, funk, rock, electronica, metal, pop, soul and R&B, summing up the album with a single style would be disingenuous and impossible.

When asked why the band chose to give this album (and all music) away for free (which took over two years of writing, demoing, fundraising, recording and mixing), Preiner reveals, "For us, it's constantly about expanding and growing and getting more people to hear the music. We do that by playing as many shows as possible during the year, and growing our base is more important than residing in a dying music industry model."

Valentine's Party w/ Ballyhoo!!

Throw rock, reggae, punk, and pop into a blender, power it up and you get Ballyhoo!, acclaimed by fans to be “America’s-Favorite-Feel-Good-Party-Band.” It’s hard to argue with the masses, but these road-warriors have tirelessly toured to bring their music to the people. Between the road and the studio, Ballyhoo! has crafted a sound distinctly their own; fresh, fun, and embodied by the soul of the party lifestyle. Lead singer and guitarist, Howi Spangler, has a reputation for mixing slick lyrics with his smooth but powerful voice. Drummer Donald “Big D” Spangler lays out the hard-hitting beats, which are underlined by JR Gregory’s funky and witty bass lines. Scott Vandrey (aka DJ Blaze) rounds it out on the turntables and keys.

BALLYHOO!’s unique sound, hardcore devotion to the road and their fans has pitched them into snowballing success. After concluding the Last Calls and Liabilities tour with respected contemporaries, Pepper, they were honored with being included on the ever-popular 2011 Hollister Holiday Playlist. Ballyhoo! has toured with a myriad of the genre’s biggest names; Authority Zero, The Expendables, 311, and The Supervillains. In Jan 2011, they got a well-deserved nod from LAW Records and were signed to the Hawaii-based independent record label. Yesod Williams of the dub rock music mega-sensation PEPPER and owner of LAW Records says of his newest addition, “Having BALLYHOO! join the LAW Records family is a perfect fit. They are an incredibly talented band with a really catchy style”. 2011 has been a paramount year for Ballyhoo! as they wrap up the year with a few holiday bashes.

UV HIPPO

In an era which seems like everything has been done before, Ultraviolet Hippopotamus has carved themselves a niche sound of its own with genuinely heartfelt lyrics coupled with compelling composition and explosive instrumentation. The music created by this five piece band from Grand Rapids, MI is progressively diverse, often switching between genres throughout the course of a show. Sometimes even throughout the duration of a song. Their live shows have become an avenue for the band to build upon the core of their songs, exploring new ground, creating tension and taking risks for those moments of pure musical ecstacy, giving fans an original experience within every show.

Special guest 4ontheFloor

Armed with their debut full-length 4x4, which was released on 4/4/2011, The 4onthefloor
forge ahead to unleash their five track summer EP, …And Four Riders Approached at
Dawn, on August 16th.
In the short months since 4x4’s release, The 4onthefloor’s sound has solidified. On
record, the band’s trademark 4/4 time signature and four kick drum lineup seal together
their delta-blues and classic rock appeal. On stage, singer Gabriel Douglas’ grizzly
baritone vocals are unmistakable; James Gould’s sticky guitar riffs are infectious and the
swagger of Chris Holm and Mark Larson’s rhythm section is contagious.
…And Four Riders Approached at Dawn (or 4RAAD) feeds the band’s love of anything with
a theme. Not only do its release date and time signature play into The 4onthefloor’s
numerology, with covers like “Wolves at the Door” (David Bazan) and “I’m the Wolf”
(Howlin’ Wolf) alongside the original tracks “HOLD,” “Howl For Me” and “Sheepskin,”
4RAAD’s subject matter is as fierce and disobedient as The 4onthefloor’s sound.
Inspired by The Doors, Muddy Waters, CCR, Howlin’ Wolf, Tommy James & the Shondels
and Waylon Jennings to name a few, all four members operate on the same hard-hitting,
bourbon-infused wavelength while keeping perfect time.
